Mount Ridley Mines is an Australian critical minerals explorer whose flagship asset, the Grass Patch Complex, hosts co-located scandium, heavy rare earth element and gallium mineralisation across a single regolith-hosted system in Western Australia. Within that resource base, the scandium estimate is the standout figure. The increase was driven primarily by re-assaying 3,271 historical aircore and diamond drill pulp samples rather than new drilling — a lower-cost route to resource growth that the company says has not yet been exhausted, with roughly 80% of the Mount Ridley tenure still untested for scandium.

Alongside scandium, the company also holds an Inferred HREE resource of 122.5Mt at 889ppm total rare earth oxide (TREO), including 41% HREO composition and roughly 5,000 tonnes of contained dysprosium and terbium, and an Inferred gallium resource of 838.7Mt at 29.3ppm gallium (24,584 tonnes contained gallium metal). The 6 August 2026 TIMA (automated mineralogy) study, conducted by AXT Pty Ltd, confirmed that the rare earths at Grass Patch sit almost entirely within three discrete phosphate minerals — xenotime, crandallite group phosphates, and monazite/rhabdophane — rather than being loosely adsorbed onto clay as in a simpler ionic-clay deposit. That distinction matters for processing: a phosphate-hosted deposit opens the door to physically concentrating the rare earths via flotation before leaching, cutting the volume of material that has to be processed downstream.

The Selectro™ Metallurgical Results

The 12 August 2026 metallurgical results are the technical core of the run. Independent testwork by Nagrom Pty Ltd, an accredited Perth metallurgical laboratory, compared Mount Ridley's proprietary Selectro™ leach process against a conventional hydrochloric acid (HCl) baseline, on aliquots drawn from the same 16.8kg composite of historical Grass Patch drill material. Selectro™ recovered heavy rare earth elements at 77–83%, scandium at 80.0%, light rare earth elements at 70–77%, and gallium at approximately 56% — against an HCl baseline of 0–51% across the same elements. Gallium is the sharpest contrast in the dataset: the HCl comparison recovered zero gallium, while Selectro™ consistently recovered more than 55% across both tests.

Mount Ridley's own announcement is explicit that these are first-pass, unoptimised results, generated from roughly 90-gram laboratory-scale aliquots without prior beneficiation, and should not be read as indicating commercial-scale recoveries or process economics.
