DXN Limited (ASX: DXN) returns to rank #1 on the Finer Market Points ASX Top 10 momentum list for the week ending Saturday 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +1,763.64%, roughly seven times the next-largest figure on the list. Iondrive (ASX: ION) sits at rank #3 on +252.63%, the second-largest quarterly gain. Gold and copper-gold companies take three of the ten places. Unlike the previous reading, this list shows persistence rather than rotation: five of the ten companies held their places from the week before, against two a week earlier, and only three names are appearing in the Top 10 for the first time in the fourteen weekly readings recorded since 30 May 2026. These are the best performing ASX shares of the past quarter, ranked by quarterly price momentum.

9 | Nuix | NXL | +47.06% | +33.33% | 3 | 35 sessions | +61.29% | Investigative analytics software |
10 | Sierra Nevada Gold | SNX | +95.00% | +1.74% | 39 | 25 sessions | +56.00% | Copper-gold exploration |
Two counters appear in the table and they measure different things. Days on List counts trading sessions on the FMP Top 30 momentum list. Launch Pad Entry counts trading sessions since the company entered the FMP Launch Pad, a separate daily ranking with its own observation window. Both are censored at 45 sessions, so `45+` means 45 or more. A short Launch Pad figure alongside a long momentum tenure is not a contradiction — the two are read from different sources and are never reconciled against each other.
Which Companies Held Their Places From Last Week?
DXN Limited (ASX: DXN) moved from rank #2 to rank #1 on the Finer Market Points ASX Top 10 momentum list for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +1,763.64%, up from +1,185.71% a week earlier — its eighth Top 10 appearance and its first at the top of the list since 4 July 2026. Its weekly gain of +49.09% was the largest of the ten.
AVITA Medical (ASX: AVH) held rank #2 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +153.95%, up from +122.40% a week earlier, in its third consecutive Top 10 appearance. Its weekly gain of +2.66% was among the four smallest on the list, which makes AVITA a clear case of a company held in position by its quarterly base rather than by the current week's trading.
Australis Oil & Gas (ASX: ATS) held a place at rank #5, down from #3, for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +82.35%. Ausgold (ASX: AUC) held a place at rank #8, down from #6, with a quarterly gain of +71.78% and a weekly move of 0.00% — the only flat reading on the list. Sierra Nevada Gold (ASX: SNX) held a place at rank #10, down from #7, with a quarterly gain of +95.00%, up from +69.01% a week earlier.
Which Companies Are New to the List This Week?
Three companies entered the Top 10 for the first time in the recorded window, and two returned:
Brightstar Resources (ASX: BTR) entered at rank #4 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +78.79% and a weekly gain of +22.92%, after 15 sessions on the momentum list.
EQ Resources (ASX: EQR) entered at rank #7 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +70.83% and a weekly gain of +20.59%, after 16 sessions on the momentum list.
Nuix (ASX: NXL) entered at rank #9 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +47.06%, the smallest on the list, and a weekly gain of +33.33%, the second largest — after just 3 sessions on the momentum list, the shortest tenure recorded by any company in this week's ten.
Iondrive (ASX: ION) returned at rank #3 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +252.63% — its fifth Top 10 appearance and its first since 8 August 2026.
Mastermyne Group (ASX: MYE) returned at rank #6 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +168.09%, up from +159.52% on 8 August — its second Top 10 appearance and its first since that date.
Five companies present a week earlier left the list: Hamelin Gold, King River Resources, Kalina Power, Midas Minerals and Falcon Metals.
Which ASX Shares Performed Best This Quarter?
Measured on quarterly price performance to the data capture of Thursday 27 August 2026, the three best performing shares on the Finer Market Points list were DXN Limited (ASX: DXN) at +1,763.64%, Iondrive (ASX: ION) at +252.63% and Mastermyne Group (ASX: MYE) at +168.09%. Every company in the table above gained ground over the quarter, with the smallest advance — Nuix (ASX: NXL) at +47.06% — still exceeding forty-five per cent.
Ranking by quarterly performance is a deliberate choice rather than a default. A weekly ranking rewards a single news day; a twelve-month ranking rewards companies whose move is largely behind them. The quarter is long enough for a genuine trend to establish and short enough that the trend is still running at the time of measurement. That is why this list reads as the best performing ASX shares of the past quarter rather than of the past week — and why a company such as Sierra Nevada Gold, up +95.00% over the quarter but only +1.74% over the week, holds a place that a weekly screen would have removed.
How Does Finer Market Points Calculate the ASX Momentum Ranking?
Finer Market Points calculates quarterly price performance across every ASX-listed company — the full listed universe, not a sub-index, a watchlist or a sample — and ranks that universe on a proprietary momentum score weighting both the size and the recency of the price gain. The strongest thirty companies form the FMP Top 30 momentum list, and the strongest ten of those thirty are published publicly each Saturday, as they are above.
Three features of the method matter when reading the table:
The ranking is the momentum score, not the quarterly gain. This is why Iondrive at +252.63% sits at rank #3 while Brightstar Resources at +78.79% sits at rank #4 — the score also weighs the current week's movement and how recently the gain was made.
The quarterly window is rolling and 90 sessions long. A large gain made early in that window falls out of the figure as the window rolls forward, with no change to the underlying share price. DXN's quarterly gain has read +1,318.75%, +566.67%, +1,185.71% and now +1,763.64% across previous readings for exactly this reason.
The list is a measure of price momentum, not of company merit. A place on the list records that a share price has moved, not that the business behind it is sound, cheap or well run.
The data behind this article was captured on Thursday 27 August 2026 and this list is rebuilt and republished every week. The running record now covers fourteen weekly readings from 30 May 2026, and every company appearance is written to a time-series register so that the history of the list — which companies persisted, which themes led, and for how long — is retained rather than discarded each Saturday.
Which Themes Are Driving ASX Momentum This Week?
Seven distinct thematics are represented on the list for the week ending 29 August 2026, across the six groupings below. Gold and copper-gold is the largest by company count for the second consecutive week.
Gold and Copper-Gold — Three of Ten Places
Brightstar Resources (ASX: BTR), Ausgold (ASX: AUC) and Sierra Nevada Gold (ASX: SNX) occupy ranks #4, #8 and #10 for the week ending 29 August 2026, giving gold and copper-gold three of the ten places, down from four the week before. The three sit at different stages and carry different catalysts. Brightstar is building a company-owned 1.5Mtpa processing plant at Laverton in Western Australia under a January 2026 definitive feasibility study scheduling 9.42Mt at approximately 1.7g/t for 457koz recovered over six years, with first gold guided to mid-2027. Ausgold is the subject of a recommended scheme of arrangement announced by OceanaGold on 17 August 2026, which had not completed at the date of this article, and it recorded the only flat weekly reading on the list at 0.00%. Sierra Nevada Gold is drilling the As Safra copper-gold project in Saudi Arabia, where Phase 1 comprised 28 holes for approximately 5,400 metres across an 800-metre copper zone. Gold exploration and development is typically sustained by a sequence of assay and study releases against a supportive metal price, and by corporate activity when a developer reaches a stage at which a producer will pay for it. For the running record of this theme, see FMP's ASX gold explorer momentum research.
Technology — Two Companies, Two Opposite Momentum Shapes
DXN Limited (ASX: DXN) at rank #1 and Nuix (ASX: NXL) at rank #9 are both technology companies and they arrive at the list from opposite directions. DXN holds a quarterly gain of +1,763.64% built over 45 or more sessions on the momentum list; Nuix holds a quarterly gain of +47.06% — the smallest on the list — built over 3 sessions. DXN designs and manufactures modular data centres and won an approximately A$4.1 million contract in August 2026 to build a prefabricated edge data centre for Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne), disclosing a A$1.6 million Globalstar variation the same day. Nuix reported an FY26 result in the week before this capture: annualised contract value up 13.9% to A$260.0 million, revenue up 18.8% to A$263.2 million, and Neo platform contract value up 179% to A$78.5 million.
Nuix is the clearest earnings-event entry on this week's board. A company that reaches the Top 10 on a three-session tenure with a bottom-of-list quarterly figure qualifies on the current week rather than on the quarter — the shape traders will recognise from the Bonde and Kullamagi episodic pivot framework. FMP's technology momentum hub will be linked here as it is published.
Critical Minerals — Tungsten Production and Battery-Metals Recycling
EQ Resources (ASX: EQR) at rank #7 and Iondrive (ASX: ION) at rank #3 both sit in critical-minerals supply chains, and they are recorded here as two separate thematics rather than one — EQ Resources is tagged to tungsten production, Iondrive to battery-related recycling, and Finer Market Points does not merge two tags into a single theme on a single reading.
EQ Resources produces tungsten concentrate from the Mt Carbine mine in Far North Queensland and the Barruecopardo mine in Spain. The benchmark ammonium paratungstate low price reached US$2,900 per mtu on 30 June 2026, up 559% from US$440 a year earlier, and Mt Carbine lifted quarterly production 176% to 13,050 mtu, its highest output since the first quarter of FY2024. Iondrive recovers critical metals from spent batteries and e-waste using a deep eutectic solvent process, and commissioned its first five-tonne production campaign in North America on 3 August 2026 targeting approximately 1.4 tonnes of mixed rare-earth oxide by the fourth quarter of 2026. A producer riding a commodity price and a pre-commercial processor riding a technical milestone are different momentum shapes, and the table records both.
Regenerative Medicine — The Best Launch Pad Return for a Second Week
AVITA Medical (ASX: AVH) holds rank #2 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +153.95% and a return since Launch Pad entry of +151.74%, the best on the list for a second consecutive week. AVITA is a commercial-stage business rather than a clinical-stage one: its Q2 CY2026 result recorded net revenue of US$21.7 million, up 18% year on year, at a gross margin of 81.9%, with full-year guidance raised to US$86–89 million and cashflow breakeven guided to the fourth quarter of 2026. A commercial medical-device company holding a top-two place on a momentum list otherwise populated by explorers and developers is unusual, and the theme is typically sustained by revenue and reimbursement milestones rather than by drilling.
Underground Mining Services — The Only Name Without a Launch Pad Record
Mastermyne Group (ASX: MYE) returned at rank #6 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +168.09%, the third largest on the list, on 45 or more sessions on the momentum list and no Launch Pad record at all — the only company in this week's ten without one. Mastermyne is an underground mining services contractor to the Australian coal sector, and its unaudited FY26 result reported revenue of A$237.7 million and underlying EBITDA of A$20.3 million, both above the upper end of guidance, with an order book of A$432 million at 30 June 2026. Its audited FY26 result and annual report were scheduled for 26 August 2026, the day before this dataset was captured.
US Shale Oil — A Single Name
Australis Oil & Gas (ASX: ATS) holds rank #5 for the week ending 29 August 2026 with a quarterly gain of +82.35%, the only energy name on the list for a second consecutive week. Its Tuscaloosa Marine Shale acreage in Louisiana and Mississippi is the subject of a Carry Program under which a development partner deploys up to approximately A$70.4 million, and the Willson 1H well permit has been approved with drilling targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. A single-company theme is recorded rather than interpreted; three consecutive readings carried by at least two companies is the threshold at which Finer Market Points treats a theme as established.
What Does This Week's Data Reveal About ASX Momentum Conditions?
The defining feature of the week ending 29 August 2026 is persistence. Five of the ten companies held their places from the previous reading, against two a week earlier, and only three of the ten are appearing in the Finer Market Points Top 10 for the first time across the fourteen weekly readings recorded since 30 May 2026 — down from seven first-time entrants a week earlier.
Three further observations follow from the table:
Weekly gains are widely dispersed. They run from 0.00% to +49.09%, against a range of +15.97% to +35.14% a week earlier. Companies are holding places on very different current-week performance, which is the arithmetic consequence of ranking on a quarterly window rather than a weekly one.
Quarterly gains remain unclustered. They run from +47.06% to +1,763.64%, a spread of more than thirty-seven times, so companies are entering and holding the list at very different stages of their moves.
One entry arrived in three sessions. Nuix reached the Top 10 after 3 sessions on the Top 30, the shortest tenure in this week's ten and the shortest recorded in the previous three readings — the pattern that follows a discrete, dated catalyst rather than a gradual advance. Traders studying that pattern will find the setup context in the full VCP trading guide.
The current list is published each week on the weekly ASX momentum leaders board, which carries the running record of which themes have led the list through 2026.
How Did the FMP Launch Pad Perform This Week?
Nine of this week's ten momentum leaders carry a Launch Pad record. Mastermyne Group is the only company on the list without one, for the second time this month.
The strongest Launch Pad returns for the week ending 29 August 2026 were:
Company | ASX Code | Sessions Since Launch Pad Entry | Gain Since Launch Pad Entry |
AVITA Medical | AVH | 43 | +151.74% |
DXN Limited | DXN | 17 | +148.48% |
Iondrive | ION | 24 | +67.50% |
Brightstar Resources | BTR | 39 | +66.20% |
AVITA Medical (ASX: AVH) recorded the best Launch Pad return on the Finer Market Points list for the week ending 29 August 2026, at +151.74% since Launch Pad entry 43 sessions earlier. DXN Limited followed at +148.48% since Launch Pad entry 17 sessions earlier — a comparable return in under half the elapsed time, and the shortest Launch Pad tenure in this week's ten. Across the nine companies carrying a Launch Pad record the average return since entry was +78.22%, and the average tenure since entry was 33.3 trading sessions. No Launch Pad counter on this week's list sits at the 45-session ceiling, so both figures are exact rather than a floor.
Members holding the Launch Pad data saw each of these nine companies on the daily Launch Pad ranking before any of them reached this public Top 10 list.

What Else Do Traders Ask About the FMP Momentum List?
What are the top ASX momentum stocks this week?
For the week ending Saturday 29 August 2026 the Finer Market Points ASX Top 10 momentum stocks were DXN Limited (DXN) at +1,763.64% quarterly, AVITA Medical (AVH) at +153.95%, Iondrive (ION) at +252.63%, Brightstar Resources (BTR) at +78.79%, Australis Oil & Gas (ATS) at +82.35%, Mastermyne Group (MYE) at +168.09%, EQ Resources (EQR) at +70.83%, Ausgold (AUC) at +71.78%, Nuix (NXL) at +47.06% and Sierra Nevada Gold (SNX) at +95.00%. The list is ranked by a momentum score rather than by quarterly gain alone, which is why the second-largest quarterly percentage does not sit at rank #2.
What are the best performing ASX shares this week?
On the Finer Market Points list for the week ending 29 August 2026, the best performing ASX shares over the week were DXN Limited (ASX: DXN) at +49.09% and Nuix (ASX: NXL) at +33.33%, followed by Brightstar Resources (ASX: BTR) at +22.92%. Weekly performance across the list ranged from 0.00% to +49.09%, a much wider spread than the previous week. These figures were captured intraday on Thursday 27 August 2026 and are not closing-price figures.
Which Australian shares have gained the most this quarter?
Across the Finer Market Points Top 10 for the week ending 29 August 2026, the Australian shares that gained the most over the quarter were DXN Limited (ASX: DXN) at +1,763.64%, Iondrive (ASX: ION) at +252.63% and Mastermyne Group (ASX: MYE) at +168.09%. Every company on the list gained at least +47.06% over the quarter. The quarterly measure covers a rolling 90-session window, so a large gain recorded early in that window falls out of the figure as the window rolls forward — which is why DXN's quarterly gain has moved between +1,318.75% and +566.67% across previous readings without any change in the underlying data.
What is a quarterly momentum stock?
A quarterly momentum stock is a company whose share price has risen strongly over a rolling 90-trading-session window and is still rising at the point of measurement. Finer Market Points ranks the ASX on that quarterly window because a weekly measure rewards a single news day and a twelve-month measure rewards moves that are largely complete, while a quarter is long enough for a trend to establish and short enough for it to still be running.
How does FMP identify ASX momentum leaders?
Finer Market Points calculates quarterly price performance across every ASX-listed company — the full listed universe rather than a sub-index or a watchlist — and ranks it on a proprietary momentum score weighting both the size and the recency of the price gain. The strongest thirty companies form the Top 30 momentum list, published to members, and the strongest ten of those are published publicly each Saturday. Each company is tagged to a thematic category so that the weekly list also records which themes are leading, and every appearance is written to a time-series register that now covers fourteen weekly readings from 30 May 2026.
What is the Launch Pad list and how does it work?
The FMP Launch Pad is a separate daily ranking of the top thirty ASX companies on a momentum-derived measure distinct from the momentum score itself. A company that enters the Launch Pad has met that measure's threshold; the "Launch Pad Entry" column counts the trading sessions since it did so, and the "Gain Since Launch Pad" column records the price movement over that period. For the week ending 29 August 2026 nine of the ten momentum leaders carried a Launch Pad record, averaging +78.22% since entry over an average of 33.3 trading sessions.
How can traders access the momentum list before it publishes?
Finer Market Points YouTube Members receive the full Top 30 momentum list and the Launch Pad data on Thursday afternoon, ahead of the public Saturday article, together with the recorded weekly session reviewing the charts behind the list.
Why is this week's momentum data dated Thursday rather than Friday?
This week's dataset was captured on Thursday 27 August 2026 before the market closed, one session earlier in the week than the usual Friday capture. Every percentage in the table is therefore calculated from intraday prices rather than closing prices, and those figures will differ from Thursday's close and from Friday's close. The ranking order, the thematic composition and the trading-session counters are not affected by the earlier capture; the individual percentages are accurate to the moment of capture rather than to a settled session.

Christopher Hall's reading of this week's shift from rotation to persistence, and of the contrast between the two technology entries, is drawn from Finer Market Points' own continuously maintained momentum record: weekly readings of every ASX-listed company since 2020, ranked on the same proprietary momentum score each week and written to a time-series register, now recomputed every day for Members. That standing record is the research Finer Market Points is built on, not an impression formed after the fact. It is general educational commentary and not a recommendation to trade any security. Company catalyst details for DXN, AVITA Medical, Brightstar Resources, Australis Oil & Gas, EQ Resources, Ausgold, Nuix and Sierra Nevada Gold were sourced from secondary financial media reporting on those companies' 2026 releases and have not yet been confirmed against the primary announcements; they are reported here as company-stated figures. Mastermyne's FY26 revenue, EBITDA and order-book figures are unaudited and were reported by the company on 22 July 2026. Nuix's adjusted management EBITDA is a non-statutory measure. The OceanaGold acquisition of Ausgold is subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals and had not completed at the date of this article. All percentage figures in this article derive from a dataset captured intraday on Thursday 27 August 2026 and are not closing-price figures.

Data note — read this before the figures. This week's dataset was captured on Thursday 27 August 2026 before the market closed, one session earlier in the week than the usual Friday capture. The prices behind every percentage in the table are therefore intraday, not closing prices, and they will differ from Thursday's close and from Friday's close. The ranking, the thematic composition and the day counters are unaffected by that timing; the individual percentages should be read as accurate to the moment of capture rather than to any settled session.
